Seeking the right treatment program can be both daunting and intimidating. To help ease this process, it encouraged to do some research, tour facilities, and speak with the staff to determine what might be the best program for you. Depending on each person’s individual need, a referral to an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) may be recommended to promote functional rehabilitation, recovery from narcotic detoxification, or psychological health development.
What is an IOP?
An intensive outpatient program is designed to allow patients the opportunity to make physical and/or mental health improvements while still participating in work and family life. IOPs can be recommended for a number of reasons, most commonly for the following:
- Supportive care treatment following an inpatient treatment program. This is meant to help maintain the gains developed during inpatient care and eases the transition back into work and family life.
- Establishing a foundation for better health, mentally and physically, learning tools for self-improvement and ongoing health management
- Better managing chronic pain conditions and/or PTSD
